This piece is an incredibly vulnerable work, perhaps the most vulnerable work I've ever written as it was composed during a time of great turmoil in my life. The piece begins with a nursey rhyme sang in a round. The rhyme, entitled "Lovely Evening", was first introduced to me in 2018 while I was working as a counselor at Interlochen Arts Camp. It quickly became a source of solace and reassurance during the hard times that would come later. The piece then goes into a short spell of loneliness before quickly emerging into an ambiguous state. The piece then evolves into anger that quickly erupts into reassurance, then recedes into peace.
